Adding 'titles' to steps of the email automation flows
When creating email automation flows, it would help if steps could be named, so you get a clear overview what is happening where. Currently, when using multiple conditional splits, for instance, it get’s cluttered, and you have to click on every split, to see what is happening.

Hi there,
Thanks a lot for your feedback.
I’ve logged your request with our product team so it can be reviewed during one of the upcoming planning rounds. Adding titles to automation steps definitely makes sense, especially for more complex flows with multiple conditions.
We really appreciate you taking the time to share this with us. It helps us keep improving.
If you have any other ideas or suggestions, feel free to share them anytime 😊

Great, thanks!
I do have one extra thing: I would like to duplicate emails that I used in those automations. Often, you have similar emails for separate parts of the automation, but only change a few words, or one section. Instead of having to create that email as a template, and then use it, I think it makes more sense to just be able to duplicate the one I just created, and drag & drop it at another place in the flow.

Hi Frits,
Thanks a lot for the follow-up, that’s a very practical suggestion.
At the moment, emails used in automations are based on templates. This means that before adding an email to a flow, it needs to be created in the Templates section (https://mailtrap.io/email-templates).
The good news is that you can already duplicate templates there. So if you have an email you’d like to reuse with small changes, you can duplicate the template, adjust the content, and then select it in another step of your automation. Once the template (or its duplicate) is ready, you should be able to easily select it in the “Design” step of any automation step, without needing to recreate it.
The result:
Additionally, if you’re working with similar flows, you can duplicate an entire automation. This keeps all steps, including selected templates, which can save time when building variations.
Wouldn’t this cover your last request? If not, please provide more details and the exact steps with examples from the UI of what you have in mind. We will for sure add the note to your original feature request.
Best.

Thanks for your extensive reply!
I did know about the templates - but as an example:
1. I have a basic template to create emails, with our signature, logo’s, button in right format, etc.
2. I use this template to create a specific email in an automation flow (e.g. adjusting the texts, button)
3. I need this edited template in multiple flows, but with only one text different, or leaving a part of it out.
4. In this case, I now had to recreate that email in the template, and then use the template to import it in other parts of the flow.
So thinking this through, I should have created the email in the template to begin with, and then add it to the email flow. In hindsight :)
Nevertheless, I think it often happens, that you start working on something, and in hindsight you should have started with a template - in practice, you probably more often go through the phases I described.
So either I would like to duplicate that specific email, or another option: add it to template emails with a click, and then be able to use it from their (maybe even better - as you can then also use it in other flows, when you created an amazing email template).

Hi Frits,
Thanks so much for the additional details. This is really helpful.
I’ve added your suggestion to the existing request so our product team can review it together with the initial idea.
The ability to duplicate emails within a flow or save them as templates makes sense and could improve how you work with automations.
We appreciate you taking the time to walk us through your use case; it gives great context on where things can be improved.
If anything else comes to mind, feel free to share it anytime 😊
